I Left My Home | Military Cadence
(Lyrics & History)

"I Left My Home" has gone viral more than once - First catching the attention of the civilian world in 2021, when Drill Sergeant DePalo was filmed marching a basic training platoon to the cadence.

Funny enough, this all happened while I was still in Basic Training - It was a strange feeling, coming home to my civilian family who evidently learned the same new song I did. Some of my now good friends, MJ Hanks, The Marine Rapper, and Topher also remixed the cadence, topping the Billboard charts and making history.

Once I saw what recorded cadence did both for the veteran community and the "outside world," I made it a mission to record them. My studio recording of this cadence has gone insanely viral, with hundreds of millions of views across social media. A fellow Soldier, Chelse Hill and I even teamed up to make a rock remix in honor of one of our fallen. That song has garnered millions of views/streams and has made our hero's name, SFC Ricardo Young, well known for his bravery and sacrifice.

Since all this craziness, all the recorded cadences have served as a source of motivation, and a reminder of the "good old days" to many veterans, and I'm thankful to have been able to provide this resource. Military schools are now pointing people in the direction of my albums to learn cadences, and through the social media side of things, we have been able to, as a community, use my platform to raise funds for various veteran-focused nonprofits. I can't thank you enough!

All that being said, here are the lyrics to

"I Left My Home" (Army Cadence):

Lyrics

Lyrics

Your daddy was home when you left

Your momma was home when you left

Your sister was home when you left

Your brother was home when you left

The dog was home when you left

The cat was home when you left

The fish was home when you left

Your daddy, your momma, your sister, your brother

The dog, the cat, the fish was home when you left

And that’s the reason you left

I left my home

To join the army

I left my home (I left my home)

To join the army (to join the army)

The day I left (the day I left)

My momma cried

She thought that I

Would surely die

I left my wife

Standing at the door

She knew that I

Would die at war

I left my son

Playing in the yard

Seeing Daddy leave

Made him cry so hard

The day I left

I shook my daddy’s hand

He said that I

Had become a man

OO-WEE, OO-WEE

OO-WEE, OO-WEE

OO-WEE, OO-WEE

To join the army
